 Washington, D.C.: the Twilight Zone

Washington, D.C., is commonly referred to as "inside the Beltway" or the "belly of the beast." However, our nation's capital could also be referred to as "The Twilight Zone."
When writing stories and scripts for "The Twilight Zone," Rod Serling would often use dialectic (the technique of changing the meaning of words and symbols to their exact opposite) to transport his characters, step by step, to that now-legendary point of the absurd. Serling played games with our minds. In his hands, dialectic altered our reality and entertained us with harmless fiction. Employed as it was most infamously by the Marxists and Nazi propagandists however, dialectic was anything but harmless or entertaining.
With a twist Rod Serling would relish, the latest example of dialectic in real life was staged at one of our nation's prestigious law schools. According to "The Washington Post," on Wednesday, August 1, 2001, over 300 people at Georgetown University Law Center celebrated the founding of a new legal organization. This new organization has been formed to counter the Federalist Society and to demonstrate "that rigorous legal thinking is consistent with liberal values."
Among the organization's founding members are former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, Harvard law professor Laurence Tribe, former New York governor Mario Cuomo, and Abner Mikva who was the White House counsel to none other than Bill Clinton. They plan to organize chapters at law schools from coast-to-coast.
What should rational people expect to be the name of this new nationwide legal organization - one led by this demolition crew whose deconstruction of constitutional limitations on central government has made them famous? Guess... the initials are A.C.S.
Collect $100 for guessing that "A" stands for American. That was easy. Skip to the "S" and collect $300 for guessing that "S" stands for Society (that is worth more money because, in this company, "Socialist" more naturally comes to mind). Now, for the big money: What does "C" stand for? Collect $1 million if you guess that "C" stands for Constitution.
Yes, Janet Reno and her constitutional wrecking crew have actually named their new legal organization the American Constitution Society. That's the dialectic in real life. They have scripted a new episode of "The Twilight Zone" that we will soon hope would have been harmless fiction instead of harmful reality.
For Reno and her cast of revisionists to name their new legal organization the American Constitution Society is like the Nazi Party naming itself the Society for the Preservation of Ethnic Diversity.
P.S. George Orwell would have collected the $1 million prize.
